Once home to a Del Frisco’s Steakhouse, Mi Cocina has completely transformed the venue, turning it into a vibrant, modern Tex-Mex destination while still honoring the building’s sophisticated history.

The original Del Frisco’s space was known for its upscale ambiance, featuring elegant wood finishes, dim lighting, and the classic steakhouse vibe that catered to Dallas’ elite.

However, when Mi Cocina took over, they approached the redesign with an eye for both comfort and elegance, creating a unique fusion between high-end dining and the casual, inviting spirit of Tex-Mex cuisine.

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Mi Cocina on McKinney Avenue several times, and each visit has been a fantastic experience. My go-to dishes are the beef quesadilla and the shrimp brochette, both of which are consistently excellent. The flavors are bold, and the quality of the ingredients really shines through. I’ve also hosted several business lunches with colleagues there, and the service has always been friendly and efficient, making it an ideal spot for a quick yet enjoyable meal. I have no complaints—Mi Cocina always delivers a top-notch dining experience.

Every interaction I’ve had, from the host to the waitstaff, has been positive and welcoming.

One standout is JP, a skilled bartender who embodies all of these qualities. You can usually find him downstairs during the week, but on Friday nights, he holds court at the fashionable upstairs bar. If you’re in the mood for something special, ask JP to make you his signature martini—it’s nothing short of sublime.
